How to update your production environment in Toad for SAP Solutions

Hello! My name is Robert Pound, and I am a product technologist for Quest. This video covers how you can update your production environment. For this demo I've already established a connection to an ASC database. So if you've made successful changes in your test environment, the first thing you will want to do is compare it to your production environment. So we will come to Tools, Compare, and Schema Compare. We will be presented with a wizard. And we'll click Next. From here we select the connections that we're interested in. And I will choose my two databases, and click OK. So once we have our source and target databases, we will click Next. So from here, we can choose to select individual objects, but by default it compares everything. So I'll choose Next. And we also have comparison options. I'm going to leave these default. And the comparison is complete. So I'll choose Next. And it's found 55 identical objects, 34 in the target, 12 in the source. So let's go ahead and finish, and go take a look. So in the new open tab, we can see all the differences, all the similarities. By clicking on them, we can preview it down here at the bottom. And you have several options from here. You could send it to automation if you were working in an Agile environment. You want to automate the process. You can also generate the script. And it will make the target look like the source. And here is the file information. And this is just a preview showing you what you're about to sync. So at this point, I can open it in the editor. I can run the synchronization immediately. Let me go ahead and click Next and actually open it up. Now we have our sync script so that we can update our production environment.
