Avoid these IT integration failures in your M&A

[MUSIC PLAYING] So we're back, exploring the IT integration process of mergers and acquisitions with Senior Product Marketing Manager, Jennifer LuPiba Jennifer, in our last video, we talked about IT integration as vital to the success in meeting M&A cost synergies. You mentioned that an increasing number of execs are pointing to IT integration for why there M&As didn't meet expectations. Can you explain? Yeah, well first, most IT executives that I've interviewed, they're saying the same thing-- these deals get dropped in their laps. M&A timelines and transition service agreements are already established. When time and business productivity are the biggest priority in an M&A IT integration, they're rushing to get the newly acquired organization involved and productive. But huge misses happen, like security due diligence, or spending huge amounts of time migrating dirty data, or moving users who won't be around on legal day one. So this adds complexity and security risks to the IT integration process. It also adds a lot of time to a project that doesn't have a lot of it. For our IT audience, are there any actions they can take to improve their IT integration success? Yes. One of the things we recommend is to create an M&A repeatable framework for their entire Microsoft environment across day 0, 1, and 2 milestones. So we know each M&A is different. But with a repeatable software and services framework, you can focus on each deal's intricacies while using the tools you already know, reducing the learning curve and freeing up resources to focus on your IT roadmap or other M&As that are coming down the pipe.
