Hello. My name is Matthew Vinton, a strategic systems consultant at Quest. Today, I'm going to demonstrate the new filtering capabilities new in Enterprise Reporter 3.1.
In Enterprise Reporter, filters are how we control the information that is included in a report. Up until recently, filters had an implicit and associated with them. That is, in this example of domain accounts, if we specify information into this field, the domain, and this field, the account scopes, there is an and there, Titancorp.net and local computer user, whatever our account scope is. That's usually what we want, but it's not always.
So perhaps we want to devise a report that will return information on accounts that may need to be disabled or moved, that are essentially inactive. So we might want to include information on accounts that have an old password, that haven't logged in a while, or that are expired. But we don't want to have a report only include accounts that have all three of those. We want them to include accounts on any one of those actual properties. So let's look at how we do that with Enterprise Reporter 3.1.
First off, I'm going to make a copy of the domain users with all their passwords. That's a nice one to start with, because it already includes one of our properties that we're interested in. I want to make a copy of that in my My Reports area so I can modify it.
Now, let's edit this report. And the first thing that we're going to do is give it a little bit more of a descriptive name and a title. So now, let's include the extra fields that we want to be a part of this report. Scroll down to our domain user section. And first, let's grab the last log-on. We'll add that into our report. Yes, that's OK. And then let's grab expiration date.
Now that those two fields are part of a report, we're going to add those into the parameter section. Choose Add. And this will be optional. We'll give this a name. We'll select the appropriate field, and then choose the operand. Not in the past. Let's go ahead and specify a default value of 30. Let's add another one. Not in the past. We'll do 30 days here.
Now, what we're going to do is we're going to hold down the Shift button and we're going to select all three of these fields. If they're all highlighted, we're going to group those by clicking the Group button. Then finally, we're going to change those into ors. So we click OK. Our report will update. And now, it will include when executed anyone whose password is older than 30 days, or that hasn't logged on in the last 30 days, or an account is over 30 days expired. I hope this has been helpful. Thank you.
