How to use jump search in Toad for Oracle

Hello, my name is Robert Pound, and I am a product technologist from Quest. This video discusses how you can take advantage of jump search in Toad for Oracle. There are three unique uses for the jump search feature. The ability to navigate in the tool, interpret errors and error messages, and product knowledge and general search information. So if we come up here to the top and enter our cursor into the jump search, we can search whatever we like. And let me go ahead and search editor. And a list will pop up. And in this list are navigation items, like windows. So for instance, if you were looking for a particular wizard, or a toolbar, or a menu, you could find them here. And you can see in the windows list, there's 227 possibilities with editor in them. No surprise. So if I click on the windows, it'll expand it out so I can see all the different possibilities for editor itself, which there are many. Let me go and minimize that again. And as we search down the list, not only is it looking through the menus, it's looking through options, files you have on your system, code analysis rules, knowledge base articles, Toad World videos, the web, etc. So it will search through a wide range of information on your system and in the tool to help you find what it is that you're looking for. Let's go ahead and double click on editor refactor. It will show me where in the menu the refactor is. And then from there I can continue on with my choices. If I move over to the editor, and I have a fabricated error in this case. When I get the error message, you can copy the message to the clipboard. You can see the details. One nice thing is you can click KB search. This will bring up the jump search and enter in the error and the message. Now you can search the knowledge base articles, as well as Toad, to see if there are forums that discuss this, possible workarounds, things that other users have done, etc. And that's all I had to cover for the jump search feature.
