Why SaaS is a no-brainer

So we chose to actually use Spotlight Cloud because it actually has a SaaS implementation versus an on-premise type of distribution or application that's running. And what that did for us is actually really minimize-- or almost no setup time at all to get it set up, configured for our servers, and using and actually giving us information and alerts within, literally, minutes of having that solution installed. But not only that, I don't have to worry about patches. I don't have to worry about distribution. I don't have to worry about any of those things, which frees up my time to be able to work on some of the more pressing issues that I don't usually have time to get to. And so in the end, it's just been kind of a win all the way around. The fact that Spotlight Cloud actually stores our information for up to a year-- it actually really makes a big difference. One of the things that's actually kind of interesting to do, and I know I've only been using for a little time now, is actually be able to compare where I was when we started to where we are today. Because sometimes, even though things are running smoother, you don't necessarily appreciate the success or what its value has been because it's all kind of under the hood. But being able to look at something from even just like, a couple weeks ago compared to the performance of what we're doing on something today, it's kind of eye opening that-- why didn't we have this sooner? So another benefit to having Spotlight Cloud being a software as a service is the fact that right now we actually have SQL Server in our data center in-house that we actually manage through that. But in the event we decide that we want to actually change to the database as a service, it doesn't matter where it is. It's a website that we go to. It's a web page. All it says is I'm over here now and I'm done. I haven't had to spend an entire day. Didn't need to educate my entire team on what was going on. In fact, for most cases it's going to be completely transparent to anybody who's actually using that. And for me, as a director of information technology, that's priceless. The fact that there is no extra time that's going to be involved to actually making these changes on these things, I can't imagine not doing something like that. [MUSIC PLAYING]
