OK. Welcome everybody. I'm going to give a 10 minute presentation on our Foglight tool and we're going to show you how you can manage, diagnosis, and optimize your databases. So I want you to think about these thoughts. What if you could give it a real-time view of the enterprise? Of your whole enterprise, not just your Oracle databases but if you have different database types. What if you could identify the servers and the resources where performance is causing problems? And what if you could diagnose and resolve those quickly?
Well we've got the answer for you. It's introducing Foglight for databases. And we actually cover all of these database types. So if you find yourself being forced into covering more database types, even NoSQL, we actually cover that. And then we do it in a single view. So you can see the whole enterprise in one view. We soon to add in October, coming this October 15 we're adding a Redshift and SAP Hannah as well. So we're in the cloud. We do Azure and all the RDSes and Amazon as well as EC2.
So we handle all the databases. So if you find yourself being pushed into some of these new technologies we'll be right there with you to help you. This is Foglight in action and really with one view, you can actually see all the databases, all the different database types. You have these tiles here that you can actually focus and filter on. And then basically you can quickly drill down with a quick eye and get a preview of the workload that's going on and whether it's normal or not. We have this patented technology where we baseline.
And we actually look at that baseline over the 90 days and we know what your workload is. So we know the deviations from it. And so we actually alarm, we've come out with 100 alarms that basically will alert you to any type of performance problems. In fact, we err on probably too much information but we'd rather give you all the information you need as opposed to selling you short and you missing some, having an outage for some reason.
So you get alerts on those deviations. You can actually troubleshoot performance and get some useful information on how to tune. We have a multi-dimensional view that you can go in and see this is basically showing you what's normal, what's not normal. You can actually turn that queue many different ways. You can look at wait times, you can look at different users, look at different databases. And then, of course, you can to get capacity planning out of this because we keep history for over 13 months so you can do that year after year comparison.
And we actually have reports that will actually forecast your storage and everything else. So it's kind of neat that way. Here's the main dashboard. As you can see right out of the front screens you can see all the severities of your alarms. You can see your workloads. We actually give you a free OS cartridge that basically monitors the server you're on as well. As well as the disk storage and the back end. So we're agentless but we actually connect to the OS. And then we also connect to the database and just look at the V$ views for Oracle.
And then we pull back through, we use Windows Remote Manager or if you are using Linux, we SSH and get that information for the OS. OK. So this is just the quick eye view. And you can see we have these baselines at all these different levels. We can show you the little tiny line above that is the normal. And where the thick line is really what it's doing right now. And you can see this one CPU isn't really normal. It's kind of outer normal. We show you the workload via sessions and how active it is.
And so, again, this is not normal because that shaded area is what this one instance normally runs on. And then finally we show you a baseline for the whole workload. And you can actually break that down by CPU, IO. Say you have a machine that has too much, really being overrun with the CPU and you want to focus only on the single servers that are the queries that are doing that. You can do that with Foglight. Now right now we're not showing a deviation. But what if you can track changes? You know, what changed.
Because maybe a change actually caused the problem. We actually track not only execution plan changes but configuration changes, Oracle schema changes, system configuration changes, and you can actually define what you want to record as changes. So Foglight is completely configurable. You can create your own dashboard. You can create your own reports. Create your own alerts if you want to. But we come, like I said, we err on giving you too much information rather than not enough. You can just see the different types that we do.
And then we have a comparison feature. How many of you have ever come in one day and everything's gone south and you go, "it was running fine last week and I've changed nothing." So what you can do here is you can actually go back and compare today versus last week at the same time and say, "oh something was introduced. I knew that." Some user got on or something. So you could actually see that with this tool. You can actually compare different instances.
So if you have DevOps and you actually want to see what's going to be in production and you're going to run a production load to see and compare with production, you can actually do that by comparing the different instances. And you can actually compare configurations as well. So if you have configurations that you
