How to setup email server settings in Foglight

We'll cover how to configure email server settings, defining the global mail server connection details. Applicable and required, not just for the Foglight Cartridge for SQL Server agents, but for all Foglight agents or components that have email notification capabilities. To receive other email notification notifications, an email service setting is required. Log on to the Foglight console with your Foglight admin user to configure the settings. Edit the required field mail server, and enter your company's email server name or IP, and click Save. Access the other required field, email sender address, and key in an email address. The address isn't required to be resolvable. It's needed as a sender field when receiving alarm email notifications, not uncommon for identification purposes to set the sending address to something [INAUDIBLE] recognition to Foglight. Click Save. Other fields are optional considering your company's requirements, or if the mail server port has changed from the default settings. After the two mandatory fields are completed, test the configurations. Enter a valid email address to validate the settings and receive the test message, then click Send Test Email. Testing the configurations in this demo will fail because of false mail in email settings. However, with valid configurations an email sent successful dialog box should display requesting to check your inbox validating the setup. Once the test message is received successfully, the set up is complete. Database notifications under Groups are left over configurations from older Cartridge versions and are not required with the current database cartridges. The Foglight system is now staged.
