Welcome to the Quest On Demand backup and recovery demonstration. In this video, we're going to show how to restore an Azure or Office 365 group and its membership. In the On Demand console, I've already ensured that a backup has been taken. Now in the Office 365 Admin Center, we will delete the technical training group that we created earlier. Before deleting, let's examine the group's members so you can see who the members are. I'm now going to delete the group.
Office 365 groups are not captured in the Recycle Bin. So natively restoring a group would require a support call to Microsoft.
Back on the On Demand portal home page, you can either select Backup and Recovery or the Go button under the Azure recovery widget. I'm going to select the Go button on the home page. We'll now select Unpack Backup, and specify a backup captured prior to group deletion. This will take some time, so I will fast forward until this is complete.
Next, I'll select the Objects tab and search for the technical training group. I'm going to select a checkbox next to the technical training group, and then click the Restore link. Here we have four options which will be covered in other videos. But in this video, we'll be using the Restore Objects Membership and Groups, and Restore All Attributes options. I'll now click Save.
At the top, you can see a green box that says Adding One Object For Restore. And if you click on the View Details button, it brings you to the Tasks screen. Here you can see the progress of the restore operation, and see if it has completed or failed. I'll now fast forward to the time when the restoration completes.
Now that the restore is completed, I'm going back to the Office 365 Administration Center. We'll now search for the technical training group. And we can see that the group object and its membership is fully intact and restored. This concludes this Quest On Demand demonstration. Thank you for watching this video.
