Hello. My name is Robert Pound. And I work for Dell Software. In this video, we'll be discussing how to backup and restore your Toad Intelligence Central Server using Dell Rapid Recovery. Analytics data is an aggregation of multiple sources, so protecting that data is a matter of lost time, not lost data. However, Toad Intelligence Central Server is your collaboration platform that houses data, data visualizations, profile, projects, flat files, et cetera, and is therefore more vital for backing up.
There are several methods and tools available for backing up and recovering your data. Choose the one that you and your IT staff feel most comfortable with. As you can see, I have the Toad Intelligence Central Server Admin Console open up on the server that I have running.
So what we want to do is actually protect this data first. So the first thing I'm going to do is move over to the VM that has Rapid Recovery running on it. So here we have the Rapid Recovery console. And I'm on the home page. The first thing that I want to do is actually target the system that we want to protect. So I will choose Protect Machine. And I will choose Typical. And I will enter in the credentials for the machine that Toad Intelligence Central server is running on.
Now I already have this up and running. So I will cancel out once we're done. But just to show you the steps, at this point we could keep the current setting since we're already protection system. Or we could choose Default. I'll choose Custom just to show you what options you currently have. We could choose the volumes that we want to protect-- in this case, All.
And then we can choose the scheduling. For this particular setup, I've chose backup times of one hour, which is more than sufficient for Toad Intelligence Central Server. So let me go ahead and cancel out of this. Yes, I'm sure. As you can see, we're already protecting that system.
So let me go ahead and go into the system itself. And then choose Recovery Points. Again, we've been protecting this system for a while, so we have multiple recovery points. At this point, if we had a data loss, we could come in and start the recovery process.
So since we haven't had an actual data loss, let me go ahead and force one. So let me switch back over to Toad Intelligence Central Server. So let's say, for instance, that we lost some data files. As you can see, I have this one labeled Do Not Delete, so this is obviously the one that's going to be deleted.
And let's just delete a few more just for the sake of clarity in the demo. And delete the folder, too. And let's say that your user, for whatever reason, decided that they wanted to delete themselves or they accidentally deleted themselves. And now they can't get at the data that they created and they can't get access to Toad Intelligence Central Server and they are very unhappy. You need to go help them out.
So what we're going to do is we're going to switch back to our Protection VM. So at this point, we knows it most of these snapshots are in a known good state. And there are several different options. Obviously, if the entire VM crashed, you would want to do a full restore. What I've chosen to do is mount the particular snapshot that is known to be good.
At this point, you can choose the different partitions if you want to mount. I'm going to choose just the C partition because I know that that's where my Toad intelligence Central Server data is. And you can choose the location on the protection server that you want to mount the data to.
Again, this is the entire partition on the Toad Intelligence Central Server that we're trying to mount. And we're going to mount it to this server. In this case, I've actually already mounted it, so I don't need to mount it. But as you can see, you can choose your source folder. You can choose to share it, et cetera. I'm going to cancel out of this.
And as you can see, I've already also created a network share on the Toad Intelligence Central Server. So all I have to do essentially is copy over from the mounted folder directly to the Toad Intelligence Central Server because the data that we're after for Toad Intelligence Central Server is under C, ProgramData, Dell, and then Toad Intelligence Central Server.
As you can see, I've mounted this on the E drive. This is our actual system that we're protecting. And again, this is the C, ProgramData, Dell. This is where the Toad Intelligence Central Server data is.
Before I do that, it is best practice to shut down all the services on Toad Intelligence Central Server. So I'll switch back quickly to Toad Intelligence Central Server. You can see we're missing a lot of our data. So I'll open up Services. I'll hit T for Toad.
And I will simply shut down all the services associated with Toad Intelligence Central Server. You can see on screen we have four right now. So what I'm going to do is just stop all services. And we'll start services back up once the files are copied so that it can pick up the changes.
So again, I'm just going to copy from the snapshot mounted onto the E drive directly to-- hold on. So before we copy the directory over, I may want to rename this, just so if there's anything that goes wrong or it's not the snapshot that we need, we will still have the data.
And now that this is copied over, we can switch back to our Toad Intelligence Central Server VM and start all the processes again And obviously you're going
